BBC - Daylight Savings

have created this nice historical animation for explaining the Daylight Saving Time system.

'For thousands of years mankind has adjusted the measurement of time in accordance with the sun.

But ancient civilizations altered their daily schedules to hours of sunlight, rather than Daylight Saving Time in the modern sense.

As society evolved, the notion of living strictly by the hours of sunlight faded away'.

In a 2 minute animation for BBC iWonder the enigmatic Stephen Fry narrates an elaborate and fascinating whistle-stop tour through the History of Daylight Saving Time.

An idea 130 years in the making we are taken to 18th Century Paris when it was originally conceived by Benjamin Franklin all the way to its first practical use by Germany in World War 1. A funny, fast paced and informative film with a Cartoon modern inspired style.'
