George Richmond - Children of Men SOC Award
George Richmond - Children of Men SOC Award

It's rare for me to make a post that has very little to do with Motion Graphics, but this deserves a mention purely for the fantastic achievement of creating such an action heavy continuous shot. The shot is near the end of the 2006 film 'Children of Men' and follows Clive Owen's character as he navigates a dangerous urban battlefield. It was shot with a handheld camera to immerse the viewer in the dangerous environment that the film was set in and to increase the journalistic feel of it.
Although the film itself was made in 2006, George Richmond has recently been awarded the 2012 Society of Camera Operators Historical Shot Award.
When I first saw this I was completely blown away by it, and in my mind helped cement Children of Men as one of the greatest films I have seen. A lot of people may disagree but nobody can argue that this is incredibly well choreographed
