With the 2012 Olympics finally over, there have been some fantastic TV promos and Olympic-inspired animations coming along. Here is a round-up of our favourites.

London 2012 Olympic Promo for CCTV

MIE used some great particle effects that create athletes and landmarks in this promo. When viewed sill it can look messy and confused, but in motion it really captures the energy perfectly

Not strictly Olympics based, but this cute animation from MOTIONLAB takes us through a journey of all the different ways you can pedal on two wheels.

Love Sport
A simple but awesome concept from studio AKA. Using simple shapes and colours in an 8-bit style, it's not so great to look at but these series of animations really show how great animation and concept can be used effectively without the need for pretty visuals. They feature different olympic events, but with an amusing twist. My favourite is the fencing, scroll down to see more.

BBC London 2012 Olympic Games Trailer
 The trailer for the BBC's coverage is based around the concept of 'Stadium UK'. The animation of athletes competing in various urban settings surrounded by the iconic silhouette of the Olympic Stadium, suggeststing that wherever you are in the UK you can still feel as though you are inside the stadium watching the games.

USOC John Orozco
Animated to a monolgue by USA gymnast John Orozco, this is a short story of how he got to the games with the help of his dad and his coach.

Cadbury Olympic Idents
Reminiscent of the CCTV spot, this set of short promos use particle systems to suggest the movement of sprinters, swimmers and gymnasts in the cadbury colours set to the commentary audio. I feel as though this is more effective and visually interesting than the CCTV promo however, and feels much more fluid.
